Chronic Neck Pain with No Traumatic Injuries in your Past?

Do you suffer from chronic neck pain? Have you ever been in an accident or experienced any trauma that could be linked to your current neck pain? If not, then what could be the cause? Neck pain is a common problem, and can be caused by many different things. In this blog post, we will discuss some of the most common causes of chronic neck pain with no traumatic injuries in your past.

One of the most common causes of chronic neck pain is poor posture. If you work at a desk all day or spend a lot of time hunched over your phone, you may start to experience neck pain. This is by far the most common cause of non-traumatic neck pain. This is because your muscles and joints are not in alignment, and over time, this can lead to pain. Another common cause of neck pain is tension headaches. Tension headaches are often caused by stress, and can lead to tightness and pain in the neck and shoulders. I after seen tension headaches, TMJ/TMD, and chronic neck pain tied into one another. It’s a bit of a “chicken or the egg” scenario. I usually see results and changes with all three simultaneously, but an examination will determine if you may have a more isolated problem.

MOST Common Causes of Neck Pain:

  • Whiplash Traumas
  • Poor Posture
  • Tech/Text Neck
  • Concussions
  • Contact Sports

If you are experiencing chronic neck pain, it is important to see a doctor or chiropractor to rule out any other possible causes. Neck pain can also be caused by arthritis, degenerative disc disease, cardiovascular disease including strokes, cancer, and more so it’s important to get a thorough evaluation and examination to rule out ominous pathologies. In the majority of cases that come into my practice in Louisville, Colorado, it’s an alignment issue with the joints, which causes irritation to the muscles and nerves. This can lead to neck pain, tension headaches, migraines, TMJ, tinnitus, numbness and tingling in the arms and hands, vertigo, and more.

Neck pain is a common problem, but it doesn’t have to be a chronic problem. With the right treatment plan, you can find relief and get back to living your life pain-free! The fact you don’t have a traumatic history is a great thing and usually means your prognosis is much more favorable and some simple lifestyle changes can make great strides in how you feel, your pain levels, energy level, and the quality of your sleep, and your life!
